Reno, Nev. – After a challenging series against the Tacoma Rainiers, the Reno Aces (30-33) are determined to turn the tide as they return to Greater Nevada Field to host the Sacramento River Cats (39-24), the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The River Cats are currently leading the division, making this a crucial series for the Aces. The six-game set will kick off on June 11th.

Reno and Sacramento have previously faced off six times. The Aces hosted the River Cats at Greater Nevada Field in their first home series of the season. The series ended in a split, with Sacramento taking the first three matches and Reno returning to win the final three.

Keep an eye out for the River Cats’ roster, which boasts some impressive talent. Among them are Luis Matos and Reggie Crawford, who have been making waves with their exceptional performances.

Matos, an outfielder in the Giants organization, was a formidable opponent for the Aces in the previous series. He collected five hits, including a double and two home runs, with six RBI and two stolen bases. The 22-year-old had recently made a brief stint with the major league club, slashing .224/.247/.329 with five extra-base hits (two home runs) and 20 RBI. Matos will be a key player to watch in the upcoming series, as he aims to continue his impressive form.

Crawford, the #8 overall prospect in San Francisco’s system, has been lights out on the mound this season. Since being recalled to Sacramento from Double-A Richmond, the southpaw has posted a 1.04 ERA with an 11:7 K: BB in 8.2 innings. The former first-round pick enjoyed an excellent first professional season in 2023, working a 2.84 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP with 32 punch outs and 10 walks between Single-A San Jose and High-A Eugene. Reno didn’t receive the opportunity to face Crawford in the club’s previous meeting, but Aces fans can expect to see the exciting flame-thrower out of the bullpen this upcoming week.

Albert Almora Jr was on fire against Sacramento in the first series, going 12-for-28 (.429) with three doubles and eight RBI. The 2016 World Series champion has slowed since his blazing-hot start to the season but is still slashing a solid .291/.342/.439 with five home runs and 36 RBI. Almora Jr will look to stay hot against the River Cats.

Kyle Garlick showcased a power surge in the last series against Sacramento, bringing in two doubles and three home runs while contributing 12 out of Reno’s 47 total RBI in the six-game set. Garlick has been a consistent performer for the Aces this season at Greater Nevada Field, leading the team in home runs (8) and RBI (29). His power surge will be a key factor for the Aces in the upcoming series.

Deyvison De Los Santos is on a 10-game hitting streak heading into the series. The 20-year-old has gone 15-for-38 (.394) with three home runs and 10 RBI. Since being promoted to Reno from Double-A Amarillo, the #14 overall Diamondbacks prospect is slashing .329/.382/.571 with 10 extra-base hits (three home runs), 14 RBI, and six BB in 76 plate appearances.

The Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field for a six-game set against the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The series will begin on Tuesday, June 11th, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
