Consistent with the Worcester Red Sox’ seasonal adage—Even More to Do and See in WooSox ’23—the Red Sox Triple-A affiliate launched a revised fan loyalty program to benefit the Worcester faithful this season. More than halfway through 2023, the program has exceeded 16,000 members and now features brand-new offerings at Canal District establishments.

The revised WooSox Rewards program, presented by Window World, combines three longstanding fan loyalty initiatives—the Worcester Red Sox Booster Club, the WooU Student Loyalty program, and the youth-focused WooCrew, presented by Shaw’s. With partnerships at 18-and-counting Canal District businesses, fans can now earn Rewards points and perks both inside and out of the confines of Polar Park.

“We're offering different discounts and offers, exclusive menus, and more chances to earn points,” says Jordan Sealey-Ashford, WooSox’ Coordinator of Marketing & WooSox Rewards. “Through these businesses, we have people in the Canal District down on Mulberry Street all the way over to Water Street, and it's really a cool initiative where you can learn more about these Canal District businesses and see what they have to offer.”

The 18 participating Canal District businesses are Bedlam Book Café, Birchtree Bread Company, Boland’s Bar and Patio, Bri’s Sweet Treats, Creative Cakes Café, Crompton Collective, Edenish, Evolve Fitness and Training, Haberdash, Island Auto, Namaste Woo, Scoop Drip, Steel & Wire, Suzette Creperie, Table Talk Pies, The District Wood Fired Kitchen, Thomas Rothwell Spa, and 107 Tap.

WooSox Rewards members earn points for every game they attend, with multiple in-game opportunities along with the new Canal District offerings. Fans can choose to redeem or stockpile their points across the Rewards app’s 36 prizes, with more prizes being added frequently.

Halfway through 2023, the four most-redeemed prizes include free ballpark chicken tenders and fries, ice cream, cheeseburgers, and the WooSox Rewards hat. Aside from redeemable food offerings and merchandise, fans can also spend their points on prizes geared toward fan experiences at the ballpark.

“One of the more outlandish ones, and my personal favorite, is getting dressed as an umpire to call the Ceremonial First Pitch,” says Sealy-Ashford. “No one has redeemed that yet, and everyone gets a nice laugh when we tell them that is one of the prizes. We hope this exemplifies what we're trying to do with those prizes for you, the fan: fun things that you can do and tell your friends about—things that you can't buy at other ballparks.”

The most lucrative prize being offered currently is a trip for two to Red Sox Spring Training, a $10,000 value. But Sealey-Ashford reinforces that there are rewards for everyone, no matter how much they patronize Polar Park.

“You can get an ice cream for 150 points,” says Sealy-Ashford. “If you go to the Canal District earlier in the week, and then you get 20 points for coming to a game, you're already pretty close to 150 right there. There’s something for everyone, whether you're only here a couple of times a year, or if you're a season ticket member and you're here every day.”

The WooSox Rewards program runs exclusively through the WooSox Rewards app, which is free to download.

“We're not taking commission nor getting a cut based off how many dollars are spent in the Canal District. This is a collaboration with them. The businesses choose what they want to offer—whatever they would like to offer is what we would love to show the fans.”

The WooSox Rewards program will continue to grow in membership and prize offerings. Sealey-Ashford said there are many good reasons to download the app and join the membership corps.

“WooSox Rewards creates a new aspect and enhances the fan experience,” said Sealey-Ashford. “In terms of why you should join the program, who doesn't want to be loyal to the team that they love? And it doesn't get any more fun than turning loyalty into a game where you can earn more points and do more fun things. We’ll be rolling out more fun promotions and activations, not only in the ballpark, but within the community. So download the app for free, and make sure you check in every day and see what's new.”
