Riders score nine in first, Davis goes the distance to knock off Missions

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (August 22, 2017) - With the combination of a nine-run first inning and a complete-game, three-hit shutout from Tyler Davis , the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, defeated the San Antonio Missions 9-0 Tuesday night at Nelson Wolff Stadium.
BIG MOMENTS

• Riders starter Tyler Davis tossed a nine-inning, complete-game shutout, earning the victory. The 24-year-old righty struck out six, allowing three hits and no walks. He faced just one batter over the minimum and threw 97 pitches (63 strikes).
• The Riders plated nine runs in the first inning, capping the frame with a three-run homer from Isiah Kiner-Falefa .
• San Antonio starter Jacob Nix lasted just 2/3 of an inning, permitting eight runs on seven hits in the loss.

• Tyler Davis' nine-inning complete game is Frisco's 18th all-time and the first since Joe Wieland's no-hitter July 29, 2011 at San Antonio.
• The Riders' nine-run first inning is tied for the second-biggest inning in franchise history, ranking only behind a 10-run fourth inning on May 8, 2008 at Corpus Christi.
• Isiah Kiner-Falefa collected his second consecutive three-hit game, his fifth homer of the season and his first long ball since June 3. Prior to 2017, Kiner-Falefa did not have a home run in any of his first four professional seasons.
• With Tuesday's win over the first-place Missions, the Riders sit six-and-a-half games behind San Antonio with 13 to play.
