River Cats' bats silenced as Redbirds even series

Herb allows just two runs in six innings, but is backed by three Sacramento hits

MEMPHIS, TN - One night after racking up 11 hits, the Sacramento River Cats (45-65) mustered just three hits as the Memphis Redbirds (69-41) tied the series at one game apiece by defeating Sacramento 4-0.

MEMPHIS, TN - One night after racking up 11 hits, the Sacramento River Cats (45-65) mustered just three hits as the Memphis Redbirds (69-41) tied the series at one game apiece by defeating Sacramento 4-0.

Despite allowing two earned runs in the third inning, River Cats starter Tyler Herb pitched five scoreless innings. Herb tied his season-high with six innings pitched and lowered his ERA to 5.73.
The Sacramento offense was held in check with just three hits in the ballgame. Chris Shaw and Trevor Brown recorded singles, and Herb was able to beat out an infield single for his second career hit.
Sacramento looks to win the series tomorrow in the finale against Memphis. Right-hander Jordan Johnson (0-4, 7.29) seeks his first win with the River Cats and the Redbirds will counter with lefty Austin Warner (0-0, 4.50). First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. (PT). Additional Notes
· Right-handed reliever Roberto Gomez made his first appearance since April 21 and pitched a scoreless seventh inning with a strikeout.
· The River Cats move to 3-7 in shutouts this season and suffer their first shutout on the road since June 17 in New Orleans.
