New Orleans, Louis. - The Sacramento River Cats (31-30) won their third straight ball game Friday night, taking down the New Orleans Baby Cakes (34-28) 10-0 behind a balanced offensive attack and stellar performance from starter Yoanys Quiala.
Right-hander Quiala turned in his best outing of the year for the River Cats, tossing six shutout innings and allowing just five baserunners while striking out four Baby Cakes' hitters. Ray Black, Sam Coonrod and Williams Jerez relieved Quiala, throwing a scoreless inning apiece to finish off the third shutout of the River Cats' season.
Sacramento was relentless on offense, scoring 10 runs on 13 hits including four home runs. The onslaught began right away, as Henry Ramos sent the first pitch of the game onto the right-centerfield berm. Chris Shaw would follow a few batters later with a two-run blast to center - his first home run of the year for the River Cats. Catcher Ronnie Freeman added a two-run shot in the sixth, and second baseman Levi Michael joined the party in eighth with perhaps the longest home run of the day, a mammoth shot to dead center. Sacramento would add two more in the ninth to win 10-0.
The River Cats will look to extend their winning-streak to four tomorrow evening behind lefty Ty Blach (2-2, 5.54). The Baby Cakes will counter with right-hander Elieser Hernandez (3-1, 1.42). First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. (PT). Catch all of the action live online at rivercats.com, on the MiLB First Pitch app, or on Money 105.5 FM.
Additional Notes

  • Ronnie Freeman cranked his fourth home run of the season on Friday night. Those four home runs are the most he has hit in a single campaign since he was drafted in 2012.
  • The River Cats continue to smash first pitches this year. Outfielder Henry Ramos clubbed his eighth homer on the first pitch of the game, and Sacramento now leads the Pacific Coast League with 25 home runs in 0-0 counts this season.
