Round Rock C Sam Huff Walks Off Reno 4-3 in 11 Innings

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Donuts (13-6 | 57-36) claimed their fourth walk-off win and fifth victory in extra innings this season with a 4-3 win over the Reno Aces (9-10 | 53-41) at Dell Diamond on Friday night.
Round Rock reliever RHP Edwar Colina (2-0, 4.38) claimed the night’s win with 2.0 scoreless innings that saw one hit and two punchouts. Reno reliever RHP Josh Green (0-1, 6.75) got the loss after allowing the winning run to score in the 11th inning. Green did not record an out during his outing and allowed one unearned run on one hit.
Along the Train Tracks:
- Reno took an early 3-0 lead in the second inning. LF Kyle Lewis and DH Buddy Kennedy recorded back-to-back singles before a walk from 3B Diego Castillo loaded the bases. Lewis scored on a SS Blaze Alexander sacrifice fly before Kennedy came home on a single from C Jose Herrera then Castillo stole home.
- SS Jonathan Ornelas crossed home for the first Round Rock run of the night in the third inning. The infielder hit a single before scoring on a two-out double from CF J.P. Martinez.
- The Donuts came within one in the fourth when C Sam Huff launched a home run 435 feet into center field.
- Round Rock tied the game at 3-3 in the sixth inning. LF Bubba Thompson hit a single before stealing second base and scoring off a single from DH Blaine Crim.
- Each team plated two runners over the next three innings, but none found home as the game went into extra innings. After catching a Reno runner out at home in the top of the 11th, Round Rock walked the game off in the bottom of the frame when Huff doubled to score 3B Davis Wendzel, who started the inning on second base.
E-Train Excerpts:
- Donuts RHP Daniel Robert tossed 3.0 shutout innings of relief on Friday. Three full frames is the most that Robert has thrown this season and most since he went 3.0 on August 30, 2019 when playing for High-A Hickory.
- Reno 3B Diego Castillo scored by stealing home on Friday night. The last time that a Round Rock opponent recorded a steal of home was when INF Erick Mejia stole home on August 30, 2019 when the Donuts were playing in Omaha.
- The previous two notes did in fact occur on the same day.
- Friday saw the fifth time this season that Round Rock has played into extra innings. The E-Train is now 5-0 when playing more than nine innings, including 4-0 at Dell Diamond.
