Hartford Yard Goats infielder Brendan Rodgers has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of April 16th-April 22nd. The 21-year old hit .520 (13-for-25) with four doubles, one home run, six RBIs, three runs scored, one stolen base, one walk, and an .800 slugging percentage in six games last week. Rodgers, who is a native of Winter Park, Florida, had at least one hit in all six games he played in last week and had multiple hits in three of those games, including going 5-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs, and three runs scored in Hartford's 11-9 victory over Harrisburg on Sunday. Rodgers is now hitting .300 with three homers and 11 RBIs for the Yard Goats this season. The 6'0", 180 lb. slugger led all Eastern League hitters in batting average (.520), hits (13), and total bases (20) last week. He also ranked among the leaders in slugging percentage (.800-2nd), OPS (1.338-2nd), on-base percentage (.538-3rd), doubles (4-3rd), extra-base hits (5-3rd), RBIs (6-tied 3rd), and home runs (1-tied 6th). Brendan, who is rated by MLB.com as the top prospect in the Colorado organization and the 14th best prospect in all of Minor League Baseball, was selected by the Colorado Rockies with the third overall pick in the first round of the 2015 draft out of Lake Mary High School (FL).

Ranger Suárez, a left-handed starting pitcher for the Reading Fightin Phils, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of April 16th-April 22nd. The 6'1", 180 lb. hurler started a pair of games for the Fightin Phils last week and had a record of 1-0 with 12 strikeouts and a 1.20 ERA. Suárez, who is a native of Carora, Venezuela, made his first start of the week on Monday night at Harrisburg and fired eight shutout innings to lead Reading to a 6-0 victory. He struck out 10 batters and did not issue a walk while scattering six hits to earn his first win of the season. Ranger made his second appearance of the week on Sunday against the visiting New Hampshire Fisher Cats and earned a no-decision in Reading's 4-2 loss. Suárez gave up two runs on six hits while striking out two batters over seven innings of work. The 22-year old led all Eastern League pitchers in innings pitched (15.0) last week and also ranked among the weekly league leaders in strikeouts (12-tied 3rd), wins (1-tied 5th), WHIP (0.80-6th), and ERA (1.20-7th). Ranger, who has a record of 1-1 with a 4.13 ERA in four starts while making his Double-A debut for the Fightin Phils this season, was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as an international free agent on April 1, 2012.
