The Somerset Patriots fell to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies by a score of 4-0 on Saturday night at TD Bank Ballpark in the fifth of a six-game Double-A Subway Series.
The Patriots’ pitching staff’s scoreless streak was snapped at a Double-A franchise record 28.2 IP in the 5th inning of Saturday’s game, while the bullpen’s scoreless streak was snapped at 11.1 IP.

RHP Matt Sauer (5.1 IP, 3 R, 4 H, 6 K) took the loss in his seventh Double-A start of the season. At the time of his departure, Sauer had only allowed one run on four hits, before the two bequeathed runners came home on a home run with Ryan Anderson in relief.
Sauer’s scoreless streak came to a conclusion after 15.2 IP, spanning four appearances.
C Ben Rice (2-for-4, HR, 4 RBI) represented the Patriots sole hit of the game with a double in the 1st. Over the first five games of the six-game series vs. Binghamton, Rice is 10-for-20 with 2 HR, 9 RBI, and 7 R.
