Rome Wins 11th Straight in Rain Shortened Affair

The Rome Braves picked up their 11th straight victory, defeating the Asheville Tourists Sunday afternoon, 3-2 at State Mutual Stadium before 1,745 fans

The game was called after seven innings due to rain. The win ties the team record for consecutive wins.
Rome broke the scoreboard first in the second inning when Bradley Keller notched an RBI double to give the Braves the early lead. The Braves added onto their lead in the third, after a RBI double by Drew Lugbauer and an RBI single by Leudys Baez plated two more runs to give Rome a 3-0 lead. Asheville was held in check until the seventh inning, when a Joel Diaz sacrifice fly and Jacob Bosiokovic RBI groundout cut the Braves lead to 3-2. Shortly afterwards, rain began to fall and the game was called after an hour and five minute delay, with the Braves claiming victory. Jeremy Walker pitched well for Rome, going seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits with five strikeouts.
Walker (4-11) gets the win for Rome while Matt Dennis (6-3) takes the loss for Asheville.
The Braves will hit the road to begin a seven game road trip starting tomorrow in Augusta.
