Romo Homers, but Altoona rallies to sink Goats, 6-3

ALTOONA- Drew Romo homered and had two hits, while Grant Lavigne added a double and single for the Hartford Yard Goats, but Altoona rallied to beat Hartford, 6-3, Tuesday night. It was the start of a 12-game, two-city road trip for Hartford. The Curve scored six runs in the eighth inning to wipe out the Yard Goats 3-0 lead.
The Yard Goats took a 1-0 lead against Altoona starter Sean Sullivan in the second inning on a double by Lavigne and a single by Julio Carreras. Hartford made it 3-0 in the fifth on a single by Warming Bernabel and a homer by Romo that wrapped around the right field foul pole. It was his third homer of the season.
Altoona rallied in the eighth against relievers Andrew Quezada and Nick Kuzia. A two-run homer by Jacob Gonzalez and a three-run triple by Connor Scott highlighted the six-run uprising.
Hartford starter Joe Rock, just off the injured list, pitched three scoreless innings to start the game. Fineas Delbonta-Smith added two scoreless innings for the Yard Goats.
The Yard Goats play game two of the six-game series Wednesday morning at 11:00. RHP Chris McMahon will start for Hartford, while RHP Aaron Shortridge will start for Altoona. The game can be heard on AM 1410 WPOP, FM 100.9 and the iheart radio app. The Yard Goats return home on Tuesday, June 6 (7:10 PM) to host the New York Yankees affiliate, the Somerset Patriots for Pride Night.
