Gideon Blasts Rattlers Past Peoria

Gideon cranked a 1-1 pitch from Sexton over the wall in left for the walkoff homer. The drive was the second walkoff home run of the season for the Rattlers.
The victory over the Chiefs meant the Rattlers took two out of three games from Peoria in the series. The series win at home was the first for the Rattlers since they took two of three from the Bowling Green Hot Rods in May. The only other home series win for the Rattlers prior to this one happened when they took three of four from the Chiefs in April.
The win also means that the Timber Rattlers claimed the season series from the Chiefs and now hold the tie-breaker. Wisconsin went 7-7 against Peoria this season and both teams scored 63 runs in the season series. The third tie-breaker is the team that wins the final game of the season series and that team is the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
In the second half Western Division playoff race, the Quad Cities River Bandits beat the Beloit Snappers 5-2 and the Clinton LumberKings scored five runs in the ninth inning to beat the Burlington Bees 7-5. Quad Cities win clinched them at least the Wild Card and they now lead Peoria by eight games. Peoria stayed 2-1/2 games clear of Beloit. Clinton is just three back and the Rattlers have moved to within four games of the Chiefs. Burlington is six games out of the Wild Card spot. There are ten games left in the season.
