2023 Rookie-level All-Stars and award winners

Last but certainly not least, it is time to recognize the prospects playing where the path to The Show begins.

Minor League Baseball already revealed its end-of-season award winners and All-Star teams for the Single-A, High-A, Double-A and Triple-A circuits. Now it's time to unveil this year's Rookie-level honors.

In the Arizona Complex League, Padres' Romeo Sanabria was named MVP, while the Brewers' Gerson Calzadilla took home Pitcher of the Year and Texas' Echedry Vargas earned Top MLB Prospect honors.

In the Florida Complex League, Phillies' Dakota Kotowski got the nod for MVP, Rays' Santiago Suarez nabbed Pitcher of the Year and Yankees' Keiner Delgado was named top MLB Prospect.

Finally, the Dominican Summer League, where Colorado's Kelvin Hidalgo earned MVP honors, Angels' Ruben Castillo bagged the Pitcher of the Year and Rangers' Braylin Morel was recognized as the top MLB Prospect.

Here are the major award winners as well as the full All-Star teams for each Double-A circuit.

Arizona Complex League

Most Valuable Player: Romeo Sanabria, ACL Padres (SD)
Over 50 games in the ACL, Sanabria slashed .359/.443/.617 and paced the circuit with 53 RBIs as well as his 1.060 OPS. The 21-year-old catcher from Miami also ranked fourth with eight home runs. He also collected a pair of triples, 15 doubles and four stolen bases before finishing the year with Single-A Lake Elsinore.

Pitcher of the Year: Gerson Calzadilla, ACL Brewers (MIL)
The 20-year-old righty made 16 relief appearances for the ACL Brewers and was untouchable. Calzadilla recorded a 4-0 record with a 0.98 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 36 strikeouts over 36 2/3 frames with four saves. He only allowed earned runs in three of his 16 outings and never allowed more than two in a single game. He completed the season making two relief appearances for Single-A Carolina.

Top MLB Prospect: Echedry Vargas, ACL Rangers (TEX)
The 18-year-old hit the cover off the ball for the ACL Rangers -- posting a .315/.387/.569 slash line with a league-leading 11 homers, a triple, 15 doubles and 17-for-20 in stolen base attempts. Vargas drove in 39 runs, which ranked fifth-best in the circuit and scored 46 runs (third most). He appeared in one game with Single-A Down East to finish the year and collected a base hit for the Wood Ducks.

Florida Complex League

Most Valuable Player: Dakota Kotowski, FCL Phillies (PHI)
The 23-year-old slugging outfielder paced the circuit with 15 home runs -- five more than the next player. Kotowski drove in 34 runs (fifth-most in the FCL) and slashed .287/.397/.653 with his 1.050 OPS also leading the pack. The Missouri State product finished the year playing in six games with Single-A Clearwater where he clubbed his first dinger in the Florida State League.

Pitcher of the Year: Santiago Suarez, FCL Rays (TB)
The 18-year-old righty began the year mostly out of the bullpen but found his way to the rotation late. Suarez appeared in 10 games for the FCL Rays -- making three starts -- and posted a 4-0 mark with a 1.13 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 38 strikeouts over 39 2/3 innings while also nailing down his only save opportunity. He was called up to Single-A Charleston on Aug. 15 and made five starts for the RiverDogs.

Top MLB Prospect: Keiner Delgado, FCL Yankees (NYY)
Delgado got on base for the FCL Yankees early and often, and then immediately became a nuisance for the opposing team as he usually found his way back to home plate. The 19-year-old from Venezuela ranked No. 1 in the circuit in runs scored (54) and stolen bases (36), and second in total hits (58). Delgado posted a .293/.414/.485 slash line with eight home runs, 31 RBIs and 36 walks over 49 games.

Dominican Summer League

Most Valuable Player: Kelvin Hidalgo, DSL Rockies (COL)
The masher from Santiago, Dominica Republic paced the circuit with 54 RBIs while placing second in home runs with 12. Hidalgo also posted an impressive .310/.406/.574 slash line for a .980 OPS, walked 29 times and went 14-for-15 in stolen base attempts. The 18-year-old played in 51 games across two of Colorado's DSL squads.

Pitcher of the Year: Ruben Castillo, DSL Angels (LAA)
The 22-year-old righty made 18 relief appearances for the DSL Angels and posted a 2.37 ERA, an astounding 0.82 WHIP with a .133 average against and absolutely dominated with 46 punchouts to only 11 walks over 30 1/3 innings. Castillo posted a 5-1 mark and was perfect in nine save opportunities.

Top MLB Prospect: Braylin Morel, DSL Rangers (TEX)
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound outfielder slashed .344/.417/.644 with seven dingers, eight triples, 17 doubles and 40 runs scored. Morel finished third in the league with 43 RBIs, while placing fourth in OPS (1.061). Over 47 games he went 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts and walked 21 times.
