Frisco, TX - The Frisco RoughRiders won the finale against the Springfield Cardinals, 5-1, before 7,362 fans at Dr Pepper Ballpark on Saturday night.

Cardinals RHP Anthony Shew (L, 4-3) and rehabbing Texas Rangers LHP Martín Pérez (W, 1-0) alternated scoreless work through the first three innings, before Frisco (6-3, 30-49) broke through with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. With one down, a base hit, a walk and a hit batter loaded the bases. DH Luis La O then plated a pair with a two-run double to right field, followed by a run-scoring groundout from LF Destin Hood to make it 3-0.

The RoughRiders added to their lead with two more two-out runs in the bottom of the fifth. With two down and the bases empty, rehabbing Rangers C Carlos Pèrez clubbed a solo home run. After a 2B Josh Morgan double, CF Michael O'Neill lined an RBI single to left, increasing the lead to 5-0.

Perez kept the Cardinals (1-8, 34-45) off the board through his six innings, but Springfield struck in the seventh against RHP Edgar Arredondo (S, 1). DH Chris Chinea led off the inning with his second single of the game, moving to third when RF Johan Mieses sent a double to left-center. 2B Ramón Urías then drove an RBI sacrifice fly to left-center, enabling Chinea to tag and score and reducing the deficit to 5-1.

Arredondo, though, dug in from there with scoreless work in the eighth and ninth, logging a three-inning save to close the 5-1 win for the RoughRiders.
