Express Beat River Cats for Third Consecutive Night

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Round Rock Express (36-35) defeated the Sacramento River Cats (42-30) at Sutter Health Park on Thursday night, 5-3. SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Round Rock Express (36-35) defeated the Sacramento River Cats (42-30) at Sutter Health Park on Thursday night, 5-3. Round Rock has taken the first three games of the six-game set.

Round Rock reliever RHP Kyle Barraclough (1-3, 4.26) earned the win after tossing two perfect innings with four strikeouts. Sacramento starter RHP Mason Black (2-4, 4.83) took the loss after allowing four runs on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts over three innings. RHP Daniel Robert earned his third save of the season for the Express, allowing just one hit while recording one strikeout.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • The River Cats took an early 3-0 advantage in the bottom of the first inning after 3B David Villar launched a three-run homer over the left field fence.
  • Round Rock answered with a four spot in the top of the third inning to take a 4-3 lead. C Andrew Knapp plated 1B Justin Foscue on a double to the gap before Knapp later scored on a wild pitch. SS Jonathan Ornelas tripled home CF Dustin Harris to tie the game at three. Ornelas scored the go-ahead run on a bloop double down the left field line by 2B Jax Biggers to round out the frame.
  • Knapp provided an insurance run in the seventh inning, blasting a solo homer to increase the Express lead to 5-3.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • 1B Justin Foscue made his return to the E-Train lineup, rehabbing an oblique injury he suffered with the Texas Rangers on April 7 against the Houston Astros. Foscue went 0-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. The former 14th overall pick is now riding a 37-game on base streak at the Triple-A level, dating back to August 18, 2023.
  • Round Rock C Andrew Knapp, the Sacramento area native, had a productive night at the plate as he went 2-for-5 with a double, home run, two RBI and two runs scored.
  • RHP Kyle Barraclough, LHP Grant Wolfram, and RHP Daniel Robert combined for 5.0 shutout innings out of the Round Rock bullpen.

Next up: Round Rock and Sacramento face off for game four of the series Friday night. Express RHP Gerson Garabito (1-2, 1.78) is slated to make the start against River Cats RHP Hayden Birdsong (0-0, 6.75). First pitch from Sutter Health Park is set for 8:45 p.m. CT.
