Summary
RubberDucks second baseman Raynel Delgado hit a go-ahead two-run home run to left field in the top of the 10th inning to lead Akron to a 4-2 series finale victory and 4-2 road series win over the Bowie Baysox at Prince George’s Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Turning Point
In a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Baysox had the bases loaded with one out against right-hander Bradley Hanner. Designated hitter Heston Kjerstad lined to center fielder Petey Halpin, and when pinch runner Donta’ Williams stumbled leaving third base, Halpin threw to catcher Michael Berglund to tag out Williams as the potential game-winning run for the final out of the inning. In the 10th, with two outs and a runner still at second base, Delgado hit an opposite-field home run – his first of the season – off right-hander Nolan Hoffman for a 4-2 Akron lead.

Mound Presence
Left-hander Joey Cantillo hit the first batter he faced – Kjerstad – and allowed him to score after a stolen base, wild pitch and a throwing error by shortstop Angel Martínez. Cantillo escaped the inning and held Bowie scoreless through the fourth inning, allowing only one hit and two walks with five strikeouts. Left-hander Randy Labaut followed with three scoreless innings, working around three hits with two strikeouts. Right-hander Davis Sharpe inherited a lead in the eighth inning but allowed two hits – including the game-tying RBI single by second baseman Cesar Prieto – and one walk with three strikeouts. Right-hander Cade Smith retired all three batters he faced to earn his third save in the six-game series.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks were held scoreless through six innings by right-hander Garrett Stallings. Martínez led off the seventh inning with a game-tying solo home run to left field off left-hander Antonio Velez, snapping Martínez’s 0-for-18 stretch at the plate. In the top of the eighth, left fielder Connor Kokx walked and went to second base on a groundout by designated hitter Mike Amditis. Berglund lined an RBI single to right field to give Akron a 2-1 lead.
