Turning Point

After Akron opened the scoring with a solo homer on Wednesday night, Portland returned the favor on Thursday. Corey Rosier launched a solo shot on the seventh pitch of the at-bat to put the Sea Dogs ahead 1-0.

Mound Presence

Taner Burns got the start for Akron and scattered hits for most of the night. The right-hander allowed six hits over four and two-thirds but only allowed two runs while striking out three. Jordan Jones followed with three and a third scoreless innings while striking out four. Trey Benton tossed a scoreless ninth while striking out two.

Duck Tales

Portland’s Shane Drohan kept the RubberDucks offense off base until the fifth inning when Johnathan Rodriguez reached on an error to break up the perfect game before Joe Naranjo lined a two-out single into left for Akron’s only hit of the night.
