After seeing his average dip below .200 before the final week of April, Franchy Cordero's numbers with Triple-A El Paso have taken a steady climb. That hike turned into a sudden spike with a 42 point jump with one five-hit night.
The No. 24 San Diego prospect collected four singles and a three-run double, swiped two bases and scored the go-ahead run to help the Triple-A Chihuahuas squeak past Albuquerque, 9-8, at Southwest University Park.

It marked the second time in Cordero's professional career that he had five hits in a game. While playing in the Rookie-level Arizona League, the 22-year-old tripled, singled four times and drove in a run against the Indians on July 8, 2013.
Cordero ripped a single to right field on the first pitch he saw against Isotopes starter Matt Flemer to lead off the first inning. He drove in a run with a single to the opposite field in the following frame to push the Chihuahuas' lead to 4-2.
With two outs, Dominican Republic native slapped another single to left and stole second in the fourth, but was stranded there.

Diego Goris singled to lead off the home half of the sixth against Albuquerque reliever Johendí Jiminian. After Dusty Coleman flew out, Gale walked. Pinch hitter Rafael Ortega ripped a single into center to load the bases for Cordero.
The center fielder didn't waste any time, smacking a grounder down the left-field line on the first pitch of the at-bat for a bases-clearing double. The four RBIs for Cordero fell one short of a career high in a single game. His five-RBI performance came in a two-homer game against Reno on April 15.
After the Isotopes evened the score with a three-run seventh, Cordero started the go-ahead rally with a single up the middle to lead off the eighth.

He picked up his second steal, his third of the year, and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Jose Pirela. Shane Carle was intentionally walked and Collin Cowgill tapped a roller to Derrik Gibson. The third baseman threw to first and Cordero scored on the play.
El Paso's Nick Buss drove in four runs and fell a triple shy of the cycle in five at-bats. The 30-year-old raised his average to .429 in 42 at-bats this season.
Jordan Patterson, the Rockies' No. 20 prospect, clubbed a two-run homer in the first for the Isotopes, the only extra-base knock for the Isotopes.
