Jupiter, FL - The Palm Beach Cardinals (62-49, 22-22) got behind Ramon Santos seven scoreless innings to take a 6-0 victory from the Fort Myers Miracle (60-53, 27-18).
Primarily a reliever, Ramon Santos got his second start of the season and went seven scoreless innings. He gave up only two hits on the night. He walked none and struck out seven in his seven innings of work.
Chris Chinea broke the scoreless tie up in the bottom of the fourth by sending a 2-2 pitch over the left-centerfield wall following a Casey Grayson single. It would give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead and that was all they would need.
After Santos night was over, the Cardinals decided to bat around in the bottom of the seventh and give themselves some insurance runs. Leobaldo Pina started with a walk and got to second on a Casey Turgeon single. Shane Billings beat out a bunt for a single to load the bases. Palm Beach would then get three singles in a row from Andy Young, Luke Dykstra and Thomas Spitz to make it a 5-0 game. José Godoy grounded into a double play to score Young and make it 6-0 in favor of the Cardinals.
Dailyn Martinez pitched a scoreless eighth giving up one hit, and Ian McKinney tossed a scoreless ninth to hold onto the 12th shutout of the season for Palm Beach.
