Scrappers Rebound for Series Win in West Virginia

 (Morgantown, WV)-The Mahoning Valley Scrappers continued their red hot start to the season on Saturday night. A five run third inning gave the Scrappers control of the game on the way to a 8-4 win over the West Virginia Black Bears and their fifth straight series win to start the

 (Morgantown, WV)-The Mahoning Valley Scrappers continued their red hot start to the season on Saturday night. A five run third inning gave the Scrappers control of the game on the way to a 8-4 win over the West Virginia Black Bears and their fifth straight series win to start the season.
            After West Virginia took the early lead in the bottom of the second inning, the Scrappers answered right back in the top of the third.    
           With two runners on and two outs, Simeon Lucas singled to tie the game. Clark Scolamiero followed with a two run double to put Mahoning Valley in the lead for good. Hosea Nelson added to the scoring with an RBI triple. Nelson would then come home to score on a wild pitch for a 5-1 lead.
          Mahoning Valley added a run in the fourth inning on an RBI sacrifice fly from Richie Palacios. Palacios would also add a run in the sixth inning with an RBI double.
         The Scrappers capped their scoring with a run in the top of the eighth on an RBI single from Tyler Freeman who extended his hit streak to 11 straight games.
         Adoni Kery started and took a no decision in 2.1 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 3 hits. Kery walked 4 and struck out 3. Randy Valladares (2-0) earned the win in 3.2 innings of relief. He did not allow a hit or a run while striking out 3. Jordan Scheftz followed with 1.2 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 2 hits. Scheftz walked 4 and struck out 1. Erik Algarin finished the game while striking out 1.    
         The Scrappers (11-3) now head to State College to start a three game series with the Spikes on Sunday evening. Zach Draper will start for the Scrappers.
