Season high 11 extra-base hits propel Grizzlies past Aces 11-7

The Fresno Grizzlies (11-14) combined for 11 extra-base hits to defeat the Reno Aces (14-11) by a score of 11-7 in the finale of a five-game series Monday night. The Grizzlies' previous high was seven extra-base hits set on April 13^th at Las Vegas. Six doubles surpassed the existing high of four, the two triples were one shy of the season high and the three home runs tied the 2017 high set on Sunday.
Preston Tucker (3-for-5) went deep to right in the first for his fourth homer of the season to give the Grizzlies a 1-0 lead. The solo shot was his second home run in back-to-back games. Andrew Aplin (2-for-3) crushed his first homer of the season in the second to put Fresno ahead, 3-0. The two-run shot scored Reid Brignac who singled to get on.
The Grizzlies took a 4-1 lead in the third with a RBI triple from Tyler White (2-for-5), but the three-run lead did not last long when the Aces went ahead 5-4 in the bottom of the third. A Fresno error, a passed ball and RBI from Reymond Fuentes (3-for-4) and Carlos Rivero (2-for-4) did the damage. A couple more in the fourth gave Reno a 7-4 lead.
Derek Fisher (2-for-5) tied the game 7-7 for Fresno with a three-run bomb to center in the sixth. His sixth homer of the season scored Juan Centeno (2-for-5) who doubled and Aplin who walked. The Grizzlies have hit three home runs in consecutive games, but have yet to homer four times in a single contest.
Fresno took the lead back in the seventh with A.J. Reed (4-for-5) doubling to score Tucker, who tripled to get on. Reed then scored on a RBI double from White. With Reed's fourth hit, Monday night was the third straight game a Grizz batter had at least four hits, despite not having a four-hit game through the first 22 contests. The inning ended with White scoring on a Centeno RBI single to give the Grizzlies a 10-7 lead.
The final score became 11-7 in the eighth with a Tucker RBI double that scored Fisher, who also doubled. Following his homer in the first and triple in the seventh, the double put Tucker a single shy of the cycle on the night.
Edison Frias pitched four innings in the start for the Grizzlies, allowing seven runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Fresno relievers combined to allow no runs on three hits and no walks with three strikeouts to earn Reymin Guduan (2-2) the win with three relief innings. For the Aces, Brian Matusz (0-1) recorded the loss in relief of starter Frank Duncan.
Fresno returns home to open a four-game series with the Sacramento River Cats at 6:35 p.m. on Taco Tuesday at Chukchansi Park. Probable starters are RHP Roberto Gomez (0-1, 9.39) for Sacramento and LHP Brian Holmes (0-1, 6.87) for Fresno.
