Richmond, VA - The Somerset Patriots (59-35) had their season-high-tying six-game win streak snapped by the Richmond Flying Squirrels (48-46) in an 8-1 loss on Friday night.
It was the Patriots' first loss since coming back from the All-Start Break.
The Patriots were shut out through 8.1 innings, until Anthony Volpe gave them their first run with a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning.
Michael Beltre scored Somerset's lone run, on a day where he stole two bases, now totaling 23 on the season.
Austin Wells singled in his second plate appearance to extend his career-best hit streak to 13 games. Wells' hit streak is also now the longest by any Patriot this season.
Being tagged for just his third loss at the Double-A level in his 10th start was Will Warren. Warren allowed four earned runs in his four innings of work, including a three-run home run hit by Tyler Fitzgerald.
