Grand Chute, WI (April 24, 2018) - The Clinton LumberKings saw their seven-game winning streak come to end with a 3-1 loss to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Tuesday night at Neuroscience Group Field. The LumberKings (11-4) were held to a Jack Larsen RBI double as their lone run of the night.
Ryne Inman started for the LumberKings and was given the loss for his time out, a five-inning outing in which he allowed three runs, all earned, on four hits, while striking out five, and walking one.
Wisconsin (4-14) started the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Inman (1-1) allowed back-to-back-to-back hits with two out in the inning that chassed home the Timber Rattlers first two runs of the game.
In the bottom of the third, Wisconsin added their third run of the night. Pat McInerney worked a leadoff walk and moved to second when Inman hit Demi Orimoyle. Both base runners then moved up 90 feet on a successful double steal. Gilbert Lara scored McInerney with an RBI ground out to shortstop.
The LumberKings only run of the game was scored in the top of the sixth inning. Jack Larsen sliced a double high off the wall in left, his second double of the game, to score Ariel Sandoval.
Despite collecting a hit in every inning and out hitting Wisconsin 9-to-6, the LumberKings failed to cash in on opportunities against Timber Rattlers starter Nelson Hernandez. Hernandez (2-2) earned the win with six innings of work in which he walked one and struck out five.
Michael Petersen worked the final three innings for Wisconsin to earn his first save of the season. Petersen preserved the 3-1 win for Wisconsin to ended their 10-game losing streak.
The LumberKings will return to Neuroscience Group Field for the third game of their four-game series with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Wednesday night. Clinton will give the ball to left-hander Nick Wells (2-0, 4.40) while the Timber Rattlers will tap righty Dylan File (1-1, 5.40). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM.
