Jupiter, FL - The Palm Beach Cardinals (19-19) took advantage of ten runs in the third and fourth innings that led to a 10-6 victory over the Jupiter Hammerheads (15-24).
Jupiter jumped on the board first as they scored in the top of the second on a Brian Schales double that brought John Silviano around to score.
The scoring onslaught started in the bottom of the third. The Palm Beach Cardinals batted around and scored three runs. Darren Seferina singled to start the inning and got to second on a sacrifice bunt from Edmundo Sosa. Casey Turgeon and Jeremy Martinez walked to load the bases. Turgeon and Seferina scored on a ball up the middle that the second baseman misplayed for an error. Leobaldo Pina hit a single to score Martinez and make it 3-0.
Jupiter added another run in the top of the third to make it a one run game. In the bottom of the seventh the Cardinals batted around once again as eleven batters came to the plate. Seferina started the inning with a triple and Turgeon walked. Chris Chinea singled in Seferina. Randy Arozarena drove in Turgeon. Pina hit a single to bring in Martinez who reached earlier on a fielder's choice. Shane Billings walked to load the bases for newcomer Ricardo Bautista. He took a ball to left and turned it into a base clearing triple to give the Cardinals the 10-2 lead after four.
Junior Fernandez, the starter for the Cardinals, gave up a walk and two singles in the fifth, while only getting one out. He gave the ball over to Estarlin Arias, who got a pair of strikeouts to end the top of the fifth. He pitched a scoreless sixth as well. Connor Jones pitched a clean seventh and eight giving the ball over to Juan Perez.
Perez struggle to get a single out as he gave up two hits and walked two batters while giving up four runs in the ninth to make it 10-6. Ramon Santos had to come in and close it out before it got any closer to preserve the 10-6 victory.
