Shaw is representing Team USA in the Premier12 Tournament and through three games, the Cubs No. 1 prospect is batting .727
Top Chicago Cubs prospects Matt Shaw and Moises Ballesteros are turning some heads in their respective fall ball seasons after stellar summers which included stints with the Iowa Cubs.
Shaw is representing Team USA in the Premier12 Tournament and through three games, the Cubs No. 1 prospect is batting .727 (8-for-11) with four runs scored, two home runs and nine RBI. On Sunday vs. Netherlands, Shaw went 4-for-5 with a home run and seven RBI, becoming the second player in Team USA history to collect seven RBI in a game, the other being Ken Griffey Jr.
Shaw played in 121 games this year between Double-A Tennessee and Iowa and batted .284 (126-for-443) with 21 homers and 71 RBI.
On November 8, Ballesteros was named an Arizona Fall League Fall Star and participated in the Home Run Derby on Saturday. The 21-year-old hit eight homers in the Derby which was tied for third-most among the participants. Ballesteros is batting .306 (22-for-72) with five home runs and 15 RBI in 17 games with Mesa.
The Arizona Fall League regular season runs through November 14 with the postseason to follow.
