Shaw homers again but River Cats drop third straight
Des Moines, IA - Chris Shaw once again stole the headlines for the Sacramento River Cats (49-68), hitting his second home run in as many games while extending his hitting streak to 14 games, but Sacramento fell 2-1 loss to the Iowa Cubs (56-59).

For a second straight game, Shaw extended his hit streak with a home run, his 14th big fly of the year. The left fielder finished 1-for-3 this afternoon with a walk and has now collected a base hit in 14 consecutive games. The rest of the River Cats offense was unable to get anything going however, leaving eight men on base while going 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
Sacramento starter Roberto Gomez kept Iowa in check over his six innings, allowing two runs in his second quality start this season. The Cubs did their damage in the fifth inning by pushing two runs across, one of which came from their starter
The River Cats return to Sacramento for a four-game series with the Salt Lake Bees starting tomorrow night. Right-hander Jose Flores (1-2, 3.27) will start for the River Cats and will face off against Bees' lefty

Upton: Centerfielder Melvin Upton had his second consecutive two-hit game with Sacramento…now hitting .400 (4-for-10) in three games with the River Cats.
Gillaspie: Third baseman
First on the Board: Sacramento scored first in all four games this series but won just one of those four…are now 33-28 when scoring first, the worst mark in the Pacific Coast League.
