Des Moines, IA - Chris Shaw once again stole the headlines for the Sacramento River Cats (49-68), hitting his second home run in as many games while extending his hitting streak to 14 games, but Sacramento fell 2-1 loss to the Iowa Cubs (56-59).

For a second straight game, Shaw extended his hit streak with a home run, his 14th big fly of the year. The left fielder finished 1-for-3 this afternoon with a walk and has now collected a base hit in 14 consecutive games. The rest of the River Cats offense was unable to get anything going however, leaving eight men on base while going 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
Sacramento starter Roberto Gomez kept Iowa in check over his six innings, allowing two runs in his second quality start this season. The Cubs did their damage in the fifth inning by pushing two runs across, one of which came from their starter Jen-Ho Tseng. Right-hander Derek Law pitched the final two innings for the River Cats and struck out three.
The River Cats return to Sacramento for a four-game series with the Salt Lake Bees starting tomorrow night. Right-hander Jose Flores (1-2, 3.27) will start for the River Cats and will face off against Bees' lefty Andrew Heaney (1-1, 4.35). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. (PT) and the game can be heard live on the air on Money 105.5 FM and online at rivercats.com.
