Mike Shawaryn (5-7) escaped early trouble, retiring 11 of the final 12 batters faced to earn his fifth win of the season. Shawaryn tossed six innings on six hits, one run, two walks and six strikeouts. The righty made his team-leading ninth quality start of the season and stranded six runners in the first three innings.
Scott Copeland (5-4) had a strong outing for Binghamton but took the loss. Copeland yielded four hits, two runs, three walks and fanned seven over seven innings.
Portland's bullpen was outstanding in the final three frames. Adam Lau issued a lead-off walk in the seventh but retired the next six. Travis Lakins fanned the side in the ninth to earn the save in his first ever save opportunity.
Jantzen Witte (2-for-3) began the rally in the first inning with a single, extending his hitting streak to four straight games. Josh Ockimey followed with an RBI triple to right-center field.
Binghamton tied the game in the second inning. Tim Tebow delivered a one-out double, advanced to third base on a wild pitch, and scored on a single from Wong.
Jhon Nunez snapped the 1-1 tie in the fourth inning, providing a game-winning, two-out RBI single scoring Jordan Betts.
The Sea Dogs begin a seven-game homestand on Thursday night against the Hartford Yard Goats (Rockies affiliate) at Hadlock Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
