The Charlotte Knights announced two roster moves on Thursday, June 3 ahead of their game against the Nashville Sounds from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte.
1B/OF Gavin Sheets was recalled by the Chicago White Sox today. The 25-year-old appeared in 23 games with the Knights this season and was hitting .319 (30-for-94) with 11 runs scored, five doubles, four home runs and 20 RBIs. He was among the Triple-A East league leaders in hits (T-6th) and RBIs (T-6th). Sheets recorded his first career two-homer game on Sunday, May 16th.
Sheets, a member of Chicago’s 40-man roster, entered the 2021 season ranked as the 10th best prospect in the White Sox system by Baseball America. He was originally drafted by Chicago in the second round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of Wake Forest University. His dad, Larry, played for the Charlotte O’s in 1980 and 1983.
C Evan Skoug (SCOW-g) was promoted to the Charlotte Knights today from High-A Winston-Salem. Skoug, 25, appeared in 13 games with the Dash this season and was hitting .139 (5-for-36) with three runs scored, one double and two RBIs. He was drafted by the White Sox in the seventh round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of TCU.
