BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Gavin Sheets delivered a go-ahead grand slam in the seventh inning as the Birmingham Barons (30-46) earned a 5-3 win over the Mobile BayBears (31-44) in comeback fashion Wednesday at Regions Field.

Sheets, who uncorked his second grand slam of the season, took a 3-2 hanging pitch over the right-field fence to put the Barons on top 5-2 at the time. The White Sox No. 17 prospect paces the club with eight home runs and pulled into a tie for the league lead with 47 RBI.
The former second-round selection out of Wake Forest supplied his first grand slam of the 2019 campaign May 30 in a 5-2 win against Montgomery.
Sheets' slam backed a strong pitching performance between starter Tanner Banks and relievers Hunter Schryver and Luis Martinez.
Banks, who logged six innings of two-run ball, allowed just three hits but settled for a no-decision.
Schryver (W, 2-1) continued his impressive stretch out of the bullpen and allowed one run in two innings of work to pick up his second win of the season. The 24-year-old southpaw wiggled out of an eighth-inning jam with runners on the corners and one out when he induced a 6-4-3 double play to negate the threat. Schryver has allowed just one run in his last 11.1 innings of relief work.
Martinez, meanwhile, locked down his third save, which is tied for the team lead alongside Zack Burdi.
The Barons faced a 2-0 deficit into the sixth inning before Trey Michalczewski jump-started the bats with an RBI-double down the right-field line to cut the lead in half. Sheets then followed with his grand slam in the seventh to put Birmingham in front for good.
Mobile right-hander Brett Hanewich (L, 0-3), who surrendered the deep fly to Sheets, suffered the loss and remained winless.
The Barons and BayBears will continue their series Thursday night as Birmingham sends right-hander Lincoln Henzman (1-2, 5.96) to the mound against Mobile right-hander Luis Madero (4-3, 3.97).
First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CT at Regions Field and the game will be broadcast via WJQX-FM 100.5. Coverage will begin at 6:50 p.m. with the Coca-Cola Pregame Show.
