The Biloxi Shuckers (55-54, 21-21 2nd Half) were held to just three hits in a 4-0 defeat against the Montgomery Biscuits (55-49, 27-15 2nd Half) on Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

As they did on Wednesday night, the Biscuits took the lead in the first inning. Kameron Misner singled to start the frame and Greg Jones followed with a double but was thrown out on the bases as he was caught attempting to stretch the two-bagger into a triple. Osleivis Basabe tripled to right to drive in Misner and a Kyle Manzardo single brought in Basabe to make it 2-0 Biscuits.

After RHP Josh Roberson threw a scoreless first inning as an opener, RHP Sean Hunley (W, 4-1) entered in the second and did not allow a runner to reach scoring position through his first four innings of work.

RHP Victor Castañeda (L, 3-6) worked a scoreless second and third inning but ran into trouble in the fourth. After a strikeout of Niko Hulsizer, Evan Edwards walked and moved to third on a wild pitch and a throwing error. Castañeda bounced back with another strikeout but walked Roberto Alvarez to turn the lineup back to Misner. The outfielder doubled to right, driving in another run to make it 3-0, and a wild pitch brought in the final run of the game, giving the Biscuits a 4-0 advantage.

Biloxi’s best scoring chance against Hunley came in the top of the sixth inning. Terence Doston led off the frame with a single and Ray worked a four-pitch walk, putting the first two men on base. Hunley replied by striking out the next three hitters, stranding both runners and maintaining the Biscuits’ shutout.

The Shuckers’ bullpen hurled four scoreless, hitless innings, with RHP Kent Hasler striking out two in a scoreless fifth, RHP Nash Walters hurling two frames and striking out four while RHP Robbie Hitt covering a scoreless eighth. Biloxi’s offense was held without a hit over the final three frames, managing just one base runner on a hit by pitch to start the seventh.

Biloxi continues their six-game series against the Biscuits on Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium. LHP Robert Gasser (1-0, 1.00) is scheduled to start for the Shuckers against Biscuits’ LHP Mason Montgomery (0-0, 3.47) for a 6:35 pm first pitch.
