Hillsboro, OR (June 10, 2022) – The longest losing streak of 2022 has reached six-games for the Hillsboro Hops. Everett didn’t have a run until the sixth inning where they broke the game open with six runs. Adrian Del Castillo had a big game at the plate, with a home run, double and three RBI. The AquaSox won their eighth consecutive against the Hops, a 9-3 final.
Hillsboro would score first for the second game in a row, an Adrian Del Castillo two-run home run off Jimmy Joyce in the third. That was Del Castillo’s second hit of the series, with both leaving the yard. He followed-up with another RBI extra base hit in the fifth, a double that scored Tawa.
Ross Carver, who has been the most consistent starter for Hillsboro, was on the bump for game four. He had a no-hitter going into the fifth inning, but surrendered a double to Trent Tingelstad. He got out of the fifth without damage.
The sixth inning started with an out, but the next four AquaSox reached base against Carver.
Carver finished 5.1 innings, allowing four hits, three walks and four runs while striking out six.
Jimmy Joyce, who made his fourth start of the season against Hillsboro, pitched 4.2 innings, allowing three runs and two walks. Bayless, Johnson and McGuigan had 4.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen for Everett.
A walk, two hit-by-pitch and one hit scored a pair in the ninth against Julio Frias, extending the lead to 9-3.
The one, two and three hitters in the Everett lineup (Marte, Thomas, Rodriguez) all scored two runs each, with the four, five and six hitters (Gomez, Parker, Tingelstad) all scoring a run. Trent Tingelstad added a pair of doubles and three RBI in the game.
Hillsboro (26-27) and Everett (25-29) will play game four of the series at Ron Tonkin Field on Saturday. Rich Burk will have the call on Portland's CW, with Matt Richert and Seth Hoiland on Rip City Radio 620. The pre-game show starts at 6:50 with first pitch at 7:05.
