SOUTH BEND, IN (May 7, 2017) - Consistent offense was the difference for the Clinton LumberKings in a 11-9 win over the South Bend Cubs on Sunday afternoon at Four Wind Field. The LumberKings (11-17) held off a late charge by the Cubs (18-11) to snap a four-game losing streak.
Big innings proved to be the difference in the LumberKings win. After scoring single runs in the first, second, and third innings, Clinton broke out for a five-run fifth inning in which they sent 10 men to the plate.
The top of the fifth began with the LumberKings trailing 4-3. The South Bend Cubs who twice scored four runs in an inning took the lead in the bottom of the third with their first four-run rally of the day.

In the top of the sixth inning, the LumberKings added three more runs off Silverio (2-3). Quevedo again had the big hit in the inning doubling home two runs to give the LumberKings their largest lead of the day, 11-4.
