The Sky Sox (31-20) won the first extra-inning 1-0 game on the road in franchise history with a shutdown effort from its pitching staff, beginning with starter Michael Blazek. The right-hander went inning for inning with PCL strikeout leader Wilmer Font, throwing 5 1/3 shutout innings while scattering three hits and striking out four batters. Andrew Barbosa went 1 1/3 scoreless innings, while Tristan Archer threw a pair of scoreless frames.
Wei-Chung Wang (4-0, 2.08) earned the win by throwing 2/3 of an inning, while David Goforth (3) escaped a bases-loaded jam by inducing a fly ball to left field for his third save.
The fourth Sox shutout of the season came with some clutch pitching late. Thanks to the Sox defense, Oklahoma City (27-24) went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base, tying the amount that El Paso left on base May 16 when the Sox won 15-11 in West Texas.
After dueling to a scoreless tie after the regulation nine innings, Rivera put the Sox on the board, grounding a two-out single on an 0-2 offering from Jacob Rhame to left field. Garrett Cooper came around to score, helping the Sox win their second game of the season when scoring two runs or less. Nate Orf led the way with two hits, and both he and Rivera extended their hitting streaks to five games.
The Sky Sox send RHP Brandon Woodruff (6-3, 3.04) to the mound with a chance to secure another road series win against Oklahoma City LHP Julio Urías (1-0, 1.80). First pitch from the Sooner State is 6:05 p.m. MT
