Sky Sox Sweep Doubleheader With 10-2 Win

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox used a pair of four-run innings to blow open a close game and sweep Tuesday night's doubleheader with a 10-2 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers in front of 5,032 at Security Service Field.

Omaha jumped out on top with a run in the first inning, but the Sky Sox tied the game three batters into their first at-bats. Brett Phillips laced a RBI double to the right-field gap with one out to score Lewis Brinson.
The game two center fielder drove in his second run of the game and fourth of the doubleheader in the third inning, clubbing his 13^th home run of the season to right field, keeping him one long ball behind Garrett Cooper for the team lead.
After the Storm Chasers tied the game, the Sky Sox (46-30) used a four-run inning to jump ahead for good. Andrew Susac lofted a sacrifice fly to deep center field to plate Nick Noonan and Brinson launched a 3-0 offering over the left field fence for his second long ball in as many days and his eighth of 2017.
One inning later, Colorado Springs scored four more times to extend the lead to eight. Noonan lined a single past a diving Frank Schwindel at first base and Susac capped the night with the second three-run home run in as many innings, scoring Nate Orf and Kyle Wren. The game two catcher has gone 6-for-10 in the three games this series, scoring three runs and driving in seven.
Bubba Derby (2-0, 1.64) benefited from the offensive output, earning his second win in as many Triple-A starts by throwing five innings and allowing two earned runs while striking out three Storm Chasers.
The Sky Sox and Storm Chasers continue their five-game series Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. MT for the first Kids' Day of the season. RHP Michael Blazek (1-2, 3.56) takes the mound looking to bounce back from a loss in New Orleans against Omaha RHP Josh Staumont (3-7, 6.49)
