SKY SOX TAKE OPENING SERIES DOUBLEHEADER IN OMAHA

OMAHA, Neb. - The Colorado Springs Sky Sox swept the Opening Day double-header against the Omaha Storm Chasers Thursday night at Werner Park.
In game one of the twin bill, the Sky Sox sealed a 3-1 come-from-behind victory led offensively by centerfielder Keon Broxton , who totaled four hits, capping off his performance with a solo home run.
In game two, the Sky Sox got off to an early lead with two runs in the first inning while tallying two more throughout the rest of the night cap. 21-year-old right-handed starter Freddy Peralta , in his Triple-A debut, made it a memorable first start after tossing five innings of one-hit, shutout ball.

Welcome Back, Keon Broxton: Outfielder Keon Broxton collected his first four-hit performance of the season in game one on Opening Night, going 4-for-4 with a solo home run in the top of the 7th to put the Sky Sox up 3-1. It marks his first season opener ever with four hits.
Guerra Gets Goin': Starter righty Junior Guerra sealed his first win and departed game one of Thursday night's doubleheader after 5.2 innings with a 2-1 lead. He allowed just two hits, totaled five strikeouts and tallied one walk while retiring the last nine batters he faced.
Peralta Pummels Chasers in Debut: Brewer's number 10-rated prospect Freddy Peralta made a statement Thursday night in his Triple-A debut against Omaha with five shutout innings while giving up one hit and striking out six.
Shut 'Em Out: The Sky Sox shutout over the Storm Chasers Thursday night in game two marked the first shutout of the year (7 innings). Last season, Colorado Springs totaled 10 shutouts with the last being on August 31, 2017 at Round Rock (4-0).
We've Been There: The combined two-hitter by Junior Guerra, Mike Zagurski, and Taylor Williams tied the Sky Sox record for the fewest hits allowed in a season opener. In 2016's season opener at Security Service Field on April 6th, Josh Hader, David Goforth, Damien Magnifico, and Rob Scahill combined to throw a two-hitter, as the Sky Sox beat the Storm Chasers, 2-1. 
Opening Day in the Books: The Sky Sox are now 15-16 in season openers, 6-8 at home while improving to 9-8 on the road. Thursday marked just the second time the Sky Sox faced Omaha in the season opener, winning the season opener last season on April 6, 2017, beating Omaha, 2-1 at Security Service Field.
Déjà Vu For Dziedzic: Omaha game one starter Jonathan Dziedzic nearly mirrored his 2017 opening day start Thursday night after tossing five innings of two-run, six-hit ball at Security Service Field and getting the loss on April 6, 2017. On Thursday, the right hander exited with the lead after a five inning, five-hit shutout performance but was unable to walk away with a victory.
Saturday's Expectation: Righty Bubba Derby gets the nod for the third game of the season for Colorado Springs at Werner Park in Omaha. Conversely, fellow righty Andres Machado will oppose Derby.
