A 2:06 rain delay couldn't slow down the red-hot Colorado Springs Sky Sox, who scored five early runs and used some shutdown relief pitching to pull out a 5-2 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers in front of 6,814 Friday night at Werner Park.

Colorado Springs (49-30) won its sixth straight game, scoring in three straight innings to jump out to an early lead. Ivan De Jesus continued his hot stretch against the Storm Chasers, clubbing a solo home run to left field in the first inning for his fourth home run of the season and a 1-0 lead. After his home run, De Jesus had gone 15-for-21 with six RBI in his past six games against Omaha (37-42).
The Sox extended their lead with three runs in the second inning. With the bases loaded, Omaha starter Yender Càramo uncorked a wild pitch, allowing Andrew Susac to easily cross the plate. Mauricio Dubón then grounded a two-run single past the diving Dean Anna to score Nate Orf and Nick Noonan. The 2017 Futures Game participant has driven in five runs in his first six Triple-A games from his leadoff spot.
2017 PCL All-Star Garrett Cooper added to the lead in the third inning, lining his 22nd double to centerfield to plate De Jesus and give the Sox a 5-0 lead. Cooper has driven in seven runs in his past four games.
After Taylor Jungmann threw three scoreless innings, the bullpen quartet of Tristan Archer (5-2, 3.72), Tyler Cravy, Tom Wilhelmsen and David Goforth (5, 4.94) combined to allow two runs over the final six innings. Archer retired six of the final seven batters faced, while Wilhelmsen forced Anna to ground out to Cooper at first base to retire the potential tying run in the eighth inning.
The Sox aim for win No. 50 and their seventh straight win Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. MT, when LHP Andrew Barbosa (2-1, 5.70) takes the mound against Omaha LHP Onelki Garcia (1-0, 5.40).
