Sounds Drop Third Straight on Mother's Day

The Sounds dropped their third straight game after a 7-2 loss to Memphis. Tim Dillard earned his second loss of the season while Ryan Helsley earned his first win of the season for the Redbirds.
Two runs were scored by the Redbirds in the first inning. Tyler O'Neill hit a single to score Drew Robinson, Adolis García would ground out to score another to make it 2-0 after one inning.
Memphis would score a run in the second and third inning each. Robinson had a RBI single in the second and Rangel Ravelo hit the RBI single in the third.
Nashville did score two in the top of the third inning when Delino DeShields hit a two-run home run that scored Zack Granite. It was DeShields' second game with Nashville since being optioned from Texas and it was his first home run since March 29 when he hit a grand slam off Chicago Cubs pitcher Cole Hamels.
The Redbirds would score two more runs in the fifth inning. Ravelo hit his second RBI single of the game. John Nogowski would hit a sacrifice fly to put the score at 6-2.
The Sounds would load the bases with less than two outs in back-to-back innings in the sixth in seventh, but they were unable to score.
Tyler O'Neill continued to torture Nashville's pitching as he hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. All five home runs of his Triple-A season have come against the Sounds in five games. Those five games have come in the last eight days.
That home run would be the cherry on top as Nashville drops its third straight game, losing 7-2 to Memphis. Game three of the series starts tomorrow where Nashville's Seth Maness (1-1, 5.73) goes up against Memphis' Austin Gomber (4-0, 2.82).
