Durham, N.C. – The Nashville Sounds (20-20) had a forgettable Wednesday night, dropping game two of their series against the Durham Bulls 4-0 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The club slips to .500 with their second shutout loss of the season.
The Sounds threatened early but could not cash in, loading the bases in the second inning yet failing to score. In the next frame, Monte Harrison made his way to third base after a leadoff walk but was also stranded. Durham took advantage of Nashville’s failed opportunities, plating a run in both the second and third off starter Pedro Fernandez (L, 1-2), then adding another pair in the fourth.
Tyson Miller took over for Fernandez with one out in the fourth inning. While he did allow his inherited runner to score, Miller shut out the Bulls for the next 3.0 innings. Thyago Vieira relieved Miller with an out in the eighth, striking out three.
Patrick Dorrian picked up the Sounds’ sole hit, lining a single to right field in the second inning. Jon Singleton was the only Nashville player to reach multiple times, drawing three walks.
The Sounds will try to get back on the right track in game three tomorrow night. Starters for both teams are TBD. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. CDT at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
