Kyle Wren hit a leadoff home run and the Sox pitching staff combined for its sixth shutout of the season in a 1-0 win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes in front of 8,145 at the Shrine on Airline Saturday night.
Colorado Springs (43-29) scored the only run one batter into the game, when Wren took a 3-1 Tom Koehler offering and launched it over the right field fence. The third home run of the season for the left fielder marked the first lead-off home run for Wren in 2017 and the first lead-off home run not hit by Lewis Brinson in Oklahoma City.
Forrest Snow (2-1, 5.06) bounced back from his first Sky Sox start, shutting out the Baby Cakes over five innings in his first Triple-A road start of the season. Tristan Archer and Tom Wilhelmsen held the Cakes through the next three innings, while Rob Scahill (5) earned his fifth save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
The Sky Sox send RHP Taylor Jungmann (4-0, 1.03) to the mound, looking to clinch the four-game series against RHP William Cuevas (0-0, 0.00).
