Kyle Wren drove in three runs and four pitchers combined to shut out the Sounds as the Colorado Springs Sky Sox defeated Nashville, 6-0, in front of 9,018 at First Tennessee Park Monday afternoon.

For the second time in as many days, the Sox pitching staff turned in a shutdown performance, as Josh Hader, Wei-Chung Wang (3-0, 2.22), Tristan Archer and Tim Dillard held the potent Nashville offense to six singles. The zero-spot on the scoreboard marks the third shutout of the season for the Sky Sox, with the one not in Tennessee coming in late April against Iowa in Des Moines.
After being held to one run in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader, the Sky Sox (29-18) scored three runs in the second inning to take an early lead off Paul Blackburn. After the first three batters singled to open the frame, Yadiel Rivera was hit by a pitch to allow Garrett Cooper to score. Two batters later, Wren lined a 2-2, two-out single to center field, scoring Brett Phillips and Nate Orf to expand the lead.
The visitors extended their lead with a single run in the third inning. Phillips skied a sacrifice fly to the warning track in center field, easily scoring Ryan Cordell and giving the outfielder his 39th RBI of 2017.
Colorado Springs scored for the third straight inning, plating two more runs in the fourth inning. Wren drove in Rivera with a single through the hole at shortstop for his third RBI of the game, a new season-high. Cordell added to the inning with a RBI single of his own, his first run batted in since May 23.
With a win Tuesday night, the Sky Sox can clinch the five-game road series. The two teams begin play at 4:05 p.m. MT with the resumption of Saturday's suspended game. When the game is completed after the regulation nine innings, RHP Paolo Espino (4-0, 3.22) is slated to take the mound for a seven-inning game in the series finale.
