The Sox (60-39) responded to Reno's eight-run first inning with three runs of their own in their first at-bats. With two outs, Nate Orf lined a single to the left-centerfield gap to score Lewis Brinson, who extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a triple. Broxton lined a double to right-centerfield one batter later to score Orf, and the center fielder scored on a Nick Noonan triple for the fourth straight hit of the frame.
Colorado Springs scored their fourth run in the eighth inning. After Chris Colabello led off with a double, Reno first baseman Christian Walker committed an error on a Kyle Wren groundball to allow the Sox first baseman to score and cut the deficit to 8-4. Noonan drove in his second run of the game in the ninth inning, grounding out to second base to score Brinson for the fifth and final run.
Andrew Barbosa led a stout bullpen effort through the middle innings, retiring all 10 batters faced while striking out four in 3 1/3 innings. Jeanmar Gómez allowed one hit in two innings of work, while Tristan Archer scattered three hits and struck out a pair in his two innings out of the bullpen.
The Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A Affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, come to Security Service Field for their lone 2017 series with Sky Sox beginning Tuesday night at 6:40 p.m. MT. RHP Angel Ventura (4-2, 4.17) makes his first start of the eight-game homestand against Rainiers RHP Casey Lawrence (2-3, 3.44). Tuesday night is another $2 Tuesday, with all tickets, parking and Coors products costing $2.
