Space Cowboys Launch Past Isotopes, 9-2

Sugar Land, TX – The Space Cowboys scored six runs over the first two frames, including five in the first, and held the Isotopes scoreless over the final seven innings to win, 9-2, Friday night at Constellation Field.

Albuquerque tallied six hits, a double and two homers. Coco Montes and Sam Hilliard each hit solo jacks. Wynton Bernardrecorded two hits, including a double. Lopes **and Dom Nuñez** also registered singles.

Albuquerque took a 1-0 lead in the first on Hilliard’s solo blast. However, Sugar Land then plated five runs to take a 5-1 advantage.

The Isotopes got a run back in the second on a Montes solo clout. In the home half of the frame, a Taylor Jones homer pushed the deficit back to four, 6-2.

Sugar Land added to their lead, 7-2, in the fifth on a Marty Costes RBI single. The Space Cowboys scored two more runs on a Corey Julks two-run dinger.

Karl Kauffmann was charged with the loss after allowing seven runs over 5.0 innings.

Topes Scope: - The Isotopes have now scored in the first inning in eight of their last nine road games.

-Albuquerque has hit 205 homers on the year—the most in MiLB and tied for the most in all of pro ball (New York Yankees). They are just seven homers shy of tying the team record (212) set in 2019.

-Albuquerque has allowed a run in the first in four-straight and 135 total runs on the year—the most in MiLB. They relented five tonight, the third-most in the first inning this year.

-The Isotopes struck out 16 times on the night—tying the for the most punchouts in a game this season (July 12 at Sacramento).

-Albuquerque was held to two runs or fewer for the 23rd time this season. They are 0-23 in such contests.

-The Isotopes have allowed at least nine runs 10 times over 24 games against the Space Cowboys this season.

Albuquerque allowed at least five runs in an inning for the 32nd time this season.

-The 11 strikeouts by Jimmy Endersby is the most by an opposing starter this year, breaking the previous high of 10 (set three times).

-Kauffmann’s seven runs allowed tied a season-high set on August 6 at El Paso.

-Ashton Goudeau did not allow a run with Albuquerque for the first time this year, 15 games, 13 starts.
