DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Scoreless into the bottom of the sixth, the Tortugas erupted for three runs in the frame, as Daytona etched out a 4-2 victory over the Tampa Tarpons in front of 1,985 fans at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Wednesday afternoon.

CF Andy Sugilio (2-4, R, SO) and 2B Alejo López (4-4, R) collected back-to-back singles to start the rally. With one out, SS José García (2-4, R, 2B, RBI, 2 SO) lifted a fly ball that clanged off the base of the left-field fence. The 21-year-old chugged into second with an RBI double to put the Tortugas (5-4, 40-34) in front, 1-0.
LF Shard Munroe (1-4, 2 RBI, 2 SO) followed by slashing a 3-1 offering through the left side of the infield. The Freeport, Bahamas native drove in a pair with his first Florida State League hit, giving Daytona a 3-0 advantage.
An inning later, the Tortugas loaded the bases with nobody out. A free pass issued to 1B Bruce Yari (0-4, R, BB, 3 SO) and consecutive singles from Sugilio and López filled up the bags. 3B Jonathan India (1-3, RBI) would loft a sacrifice fly to center to give the home team a four-run, 4-0, lead.
Tampa (3-5, 31-43) began chipping away at the lead in the eighth. RF Omar Carrizales (1-3, R, BB) picked up a single to center and scooted to third on a pair of wild pitches. CF Estevan Florial (1-5, RBI, 2 SO) brought the runner home with a ground out to get Tampa on the board, 4-1.
In the ninth, DH Isiah Gilliam (2-4, R, 2B, SO) doubled to begin the frame and immediately crossed the dish on a single up the middle from LF Pablo Olivares (2-4, RBI, SO).
With Daytona now ahead 4-2, Carrizales drew a two-out walk to put the tying run on base. LHP Andy Cox (0.1 IP, SO) entered with first and second and two out and got Florial to swing-and-miss at three-straight sliders to finish the ballgame and collect his seventh save in the FSL.
RHP Austin Orewiler (6.0 IP, 3 H, BB, 8 SO) continued his recent impressive stretch. The 26-year-old set a season-high with eight strikeouts over six scoreless innings to garner his fourth victory of the year.
Coming out of the bullpen for the first time this season, RHP Frank Germán (3.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 7 SO) whiffed seven, but surrendered three runs, suffering his fourth loss. RHP Ben Heller (2.0 IP, 2 H, SO) started and went two innings in a rehab appearance for the Tarpons.
Daytona will look to complete their second-straight sweep of Tampa on Thursday, as RHP Jared Solomon (0-2, 2.45 ERA) is set to get the ball in the finale. The Tarpons are scheduled to counter with RHP Jio Orozco (1-2, 5.02 ERA)
