The Stone Crabs (10-10) set a season-high with six doubles, four of which came in the same inning. Charlotte continues to lead the league in batting average and slugging percentage.
After falling behind 3-2 in third, the Stone Crabs' bats came out with a vengeance in the middle innings.
Miles Mastrobuoni lined a single to center with one out in the top of the fifth before advancing to second on an error. Two batters later, Robbie Tenerowicz crushed a two-run double to right to tie the game at three. Tenerowicz then went to third on a wild pitch before a missed catch error allowed him to score and give Charlotte a 4-3 lead.
With the Stone Crabs still up one in the top of the sixth, Jesús Sánchez sliced a double down the left field line before David Rodríguez banked a double off the center field wall to make it 5-3. Tristan Gray then pulled a double over the first base bag to bring home Rodriguez and make it 6-3. Kevin Padlo followed by stroking a two-bagger over shortstop to plate Gray and make the count 7-3. The next batter was Jake Stone , who dragged a bunt single to second. Mastrobuoni and Josh Lowe followed with groundouts to first to bring home both runners and cap the inning with the Stone Crabs in front 9-3.
Sanchez and Rodriguez finished off the offensive barrage in the seventh with back-to-back home runs to right and center, respectively.
Rodriguez is now 8-for-15 with three doubles, a home run and five RBI over his last four games, raising his batting average from .258 to .348.
