CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Chadwick Tromp blasted two home runs and tallied a career-high six RBIs, helping the Gwinnett Stripers (51-58) set a new single-game record with 20 runs in a 20-4 victory over the Charlotte Knights (41-70) on Thursday night at Truist Field. Joe Dunand, Vaughn Grissom, and Yolmer Sanchez also homered as the Stripers extended their winning streak to five.

Decisive Plays: After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, Tromp’s 422-foot three-run homer to left-center (8) gave the Stripers a 3-1 lead they would not relinquish. In the third, Dunand lined a solo homer (14) just over the wall in left and Tromp added a 451-foot two-run shot over the video board in left-center for a 6-2 lead. Charlotte scored twice in the third to get as close as 6-4, but Gwinnett’s seven-run fifth capped by Sanchez’s two-run clout (7) put the game out of reach. Grissom lifted a solo shot to center (5) in the seventh to make it 15-4. The Stripers scored one run in the eighth and four in the ninth to get to 20 runs for the first time in team history.

Key Contributors: Every Stripers batter had at least one hit, led by Tromp’s four (4-for-5, 2 homers, 6 RBIs). Tromp and Jesus Aguilar (3-for-3, 3 walks) both tied Gwinnett’s single-game record for runs scored (5 each). Sanchez (2-for-5, homer, 4 RBIs), Dalton Guthrie (2-for-5, double, 2 RBIs), and Hoy Park (2-for-5, 2 RBIs) also had multi-RBI games. Darius Vines (W, 2-0) allowed four runs on nine hits over 5.2 innings in his third Triple-A start of the year.

Noteworthy: The 20 runs scored bested Gwinnett’s previous single-game record of 19, set in a 19-1 win also at Charlotte on May 7, 2021. Grissom’s solo homer extended his on-base streak to 33 games, the fifth-longest in Gwinnett history. Tromp’s two-homer game was the fifth of his career (first since May 3, 2022 with Gwinnett vs. Charlotte), and he’s the second Gwinnett player to homer twice in this series (Joe Hudson had 2 homers, 5 RBIs on Wednesday).
