ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Sugar Land Skeeters (6-1) topped the Round Rock Express (5-2) by a final score of 10-4 in the first-ever meeting between the top two clubs in the Triple-A West League. Skeeters CF Jose Siri finished the game with seven RBI, the most ever by any visiting hitter against the Express.

Round Rock starter RHP Jason Bahr (0-1, 19.50) suffered the loss after allowing nine runs on six hits and three walks in just 1.2 innings of work. Skeeters RHP Seth Martinez (2-0, 0.00) picked up his second win of the young season with 2.1 shutout innings of relief, striking our four in the process.

The visitors wasted no time jumping out to a quick lead. RF Jake Meyers led off the game with a single before LF Bryan De La Cruz and 3B Taylor Jones worked a pair of walks to load the bases. Siri then delivered a two-out, three-run double to open the scoring.

An inning later, DH Michael Papierski led off with a walk before a two-run homer by Meyers. The inning continued as LF Bryan De La Cruz singled prior to a Jones walk. After 1B Lorenzo Quintana was hit with a pitch to load the bases, Siri stepped to the plate and lined a grand slam to deep left field, extending the gap to 9-0.

The E-Train jumped on the board in the bottom of the second as 3B Charles Leblanc singled before three consecutive walks by LF Delino DeShields, RF Leody Taveras and CF Jason Martin forced in a run.

After three scoreless frames, Round Rock tacked on three more in the sixth. SS Anderson Tejeda collected a leadoff walk, then DH Elier Hernandez blasted a two-run homer that clanked off the top of the Home Run Porch in left field. The inning continued as 3B Charles Leblanc drew a walk before moving to second on a Sugar Land error. An ensuing RBI single by Taveras pulled the E-Train to within 9-4.

Sugar Land added one last run in the ninth as SS C.J. Hinojosa doubled prior to an RBI single by C Garrett Stubbs.

The two teams meet again on Friday night at Dell Diamond. E-Train RHP Drew Anderson (1-0, 0.00) is scheduled to get the start up against Skeeters RHP Brett Conine (1-0, 1.59). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
