ROUND ROCK, Texas – Sunday afternoon’s battle between the Round Rock Express (6-3) and Sugar Land Skeeters (7-2) has been postponed due to heavy rain that caused unplayable field conditions at Dell Diamond. The prolonged rain also caused players from both clubs to remain inside their respective designated weather delay waiting areas for the maximum amount of time allowed in Major League Baseball’s clubhouse protocols for the 2021 season, further contributing to the postponement.

The two clubs will meet in a straight doubleheader on Monday, May 17 beginning at 4:05 p.m. Game two will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

Fans who purchased tickets to today’s contest will receive an email from the Round Rock Express Ticket Office with additional information about how to exchange their tickets for any future 2021 Express regular-season game, subject to availability. Those with tickets dated for Monday, May 17 will receive access to both games of the doubleheader.

Today’s rainout marks just the 11th weather-related postponement in the 21-year history of Dell Diamond and the first since storm damage from Hurricane Harvey caused unplayable field conditions back on August 28, 2017, a streak of 160 consecutive home games.

Express LHP Brock Burke (0-1, 33.75) is scheduled to start game one while Round Rock RHP Collin Wiles (1-0, 1.80) is set to get the starting nod in game two. Starting pitchers for the Sugar Land Skeeters have yet to be announced.
