ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (6-4 | 50-34) took down the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (2-8 | 35-50) by a final score of 9-1 at Dell Diamond on Friday night.

Express reliever RHP Cole Winn (3-5, 7.32) earned the win after 3.2 innings while allowing one run on two hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Space Cowboys starter RHP Jairo Solis (1-4, 9.07) walked away with the loss after allowing seven earned runs on nine hits with three walks.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • Express 2B Justin Foscue opened the scoring with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first to give the E-Train a quick 1-0 advantage.
  • Foscue brought the power again in the second inning and gave Round Rock a 4-0 lead. After SS Jonathan Ornelas and LF Dustin Harris singled, Foscue came up with two outs and slammed a three-run homer to left field.
  • The Express added an insurance run in the fourth inning. Back-to-back singles from Ornelas and LF Dustin Harris opened the inning. C Matt Whatley came up next and hit a sacrifice fly to make it a 5-0 advantage.
  • The Space Cowboys got a run back in the fifth frame. Back-to-back walks for SS Rylan Bannon and 1B Jon Singleton put two runners aboard. Two wild pitches allowed both runners to advance and Bannon scored on the second wild pitch to cut the lead to 5-1.
  • The CF Bubba Thompson Show™ was on full display in the fifth inning. After Thompson was hit by a pitch, he stole second and third base on back-to-back pitches. DH Sam Huff hit a grounder back to the mound and Thompson was caught in a rundown between third base and home plate. As he stayed in the rundown, Huff wheeled around to third base and Thompson somehow scored, in mischievous fashion, to extend the lead to 6-1. The inning continued as RF Elier Hernandez doubled to score Huff and increase the lead to 7-1.
  • In the bottom of the seventh, Round Rock tacked on two more runs to take a 9-1 advantage. Huff singled before Hernandez came up and smashed a two-run home run to left field. RHP Jonathan Hernandez and RHP Fer Ozuna each tossed an inning to collect the final six outs.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • DH Sam Huff finished the night 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. In five games since he was optioned from the Texas Rangers, Huff is 13-for-21 with four doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI, six runs scored and four walks.
