Salisbury, MD -  Nick Choruby had his second two-hit game of the series in the Hagerstown Suns 9-3 loss to the Delmarva Shorebirds in the final game of the three-game set on Friday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The Suns are 31-52 overall and fall to 4-11 in the second half. Hagerstown begins a three-game series with the West Virginia Power on Saturday with a 6:05 PM first pitch.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Shorebirds plated six runs against Hagerstown starter Kyle Johnston and reliever Sam Held. With one out, Mason McCoy walked and went to second when Ryan Ripken singled to center. Both runners moved up a base when Johnston threw a wild pitch and Ben Breazeale walked to load the bases. Will Robertson doubled to left, scoring McCoy and Ripken to make it a 2-0 Shorebirds lead with Breazeale going to third on the play. With two outs Cadyn Grenier walked to re-load the bases and Zach Jarrett earned a walk to force Breazeale home and make it a three-run game. Held took the mound out of the bullpen for the Suns and got Trevor Craport to hit a ground ball to third, but a throwing error by Brandon Boggetto plated three runners to extend the Shorebirds lead to 6-0.
In the top of the fifth, the Suns offense was able to get three runs back against Shorebirds starter Jhon Peluffo. Alex Flores walked to lead off the inning while Nick Choruby doubled to left, moving Flores to third. With one out, Armond Upshaw lifted a sacrifice fly to left to make it a 6-1 deficit. Yasel Antuna singled to center with Choruby advancing to third and Cole Freeman reached on a fielding error to plate Chrouby and Antuna and cut the Shorebirds lead to 6-3, but Freeman was thrown out trying to take third on the play to end the inning.
Delmarva went on to score two runs in the seventh and another in the eighth, winning the ballgame 9-3. With the victory, the Shorebirds secured a series win while the Suns lost their 52nd game of the season.
Johnston (2-3) threw 3.2 innings in the loss, allowing six runs (three earned) on four this with four walks and three strikeouts. Held went 3.1 innings in relief while allowing two runs on five hits with four strikeouts. Jared Brasher threw the eighth inning, allowing one run on two hits.
Notes: Johnston's four walks ties a season high… The six runs he allowed is a new career high.. Choruby had his second multi-hit game of the season… It was also his second multi-hit game of the series… Gage Canning picked up his first hit with the Suns after earning a promotion on Wednesday… The Suns are 5-4 in the rubber game of a three-game set… Upshaw made his second consecutive start in left field… He made his first start of the season in left on Thursday night… The Suns are now 6-9 against the Shorebirds in the season series… There are four games left to play against the Shorebirds in 2018, with the winner of the season series also becoming the inaugural winner of the Governor's Cup trophy… Hagerstown will begin a three-game series against the West Virginia Power on Saturday night with a 6:05 PM first pitch… The Suns will send RHP Jackson Tetreault (2-7, 4.73 ERA) to the mound against Power RHP Cody Bolton (3-1, 2.86 ERA).
