WICHITA – The Wind Surge beat the Hooks in comeback fashion, 7-6, Saturday night to secure a series win over Corpus Christi at Riverfront Stadium.
The Hooks have dropped six of their last seven.
CC enjoyed a 6-2 lead over the first four innings but was undone by five unanswered runs.
The Hooks got four in the third on a grand slam by Quincy Hamilton off Daniel Gossett. Hamilton’s first Double-A home run traveled 400 feet out to center field, leaving the bat at 100 miles per hour.
CC then engineered a two-run second thanks in part to doubles by Shay Whitcomb and Joe Perez. Ross Adolph cashed in Whitcomb via a two-out RBI infield single. Perez followed to plate Adolph with this fifth double in a span of four games.
Wichita catcher Alex Isola chased Misael Tamarez from the game with a two-out, two-run safety in the fifth, making it a 6-4 affair.
Another two-out hit squared the score at 6 in the sixth as Edouard Julien plated two via a single against Devin Conn.
The lead-off hitter Julien, who also scored the game-winning run in the eighth, went 4-for-4 on the night with three runs, a home run and four RBIs.
Anthony Prato’s double to left-center against Matt Ruppenthal was the go-ahead knock.
