Nic Swanson dealt inning-for-inning with Greensboro’s Bubba Chandler. Swanson went five innings, allowed one hit, and struck out eight. The Tourists right-hander did not surrender a run for the second time in his last three starts.
Chandler was left in the game a couple of innings longer than Swanson so the Grasshopper’s righty churned out seven scoreless. Once Swanson departed, Greensboro belted a two-run Home Run in the sixth and tacked on five more runs in the seventh.
Austin Deming made his Tourists debut and doubled in his second plate appearance. It was Asheville’s lone extra-base hit in the game. The next time Deming came to the plate he worked a walk.
The Tourists will attempt to jump start the bats on Saturday with Game Five scheduled for 6:30pm. Left-hander Luis Angel Rodriguez is slated to make his Tourists debut as the starting pitcher.
